ondori 5 years ago	Thank you very much. Just needed to fix the power button. I have put a 1mm x 1mm piece of scotch tape on the back of the button to add a bit more pressure. Works fine for now. ;))
glup 5 years ago	@jim - You don't have to worry about that. There are just a couple volts running in there, not enough to damage anything. You just open the back and remove the battery, that's it.
neo-gio 6 years ago	Followed the video until the part where I had access to the connector for the power button in the back of the device. Used iso to clean contacts. Now power button works like a charm.

Jane 6 years ago	Taking it apart and putting it back together actually fixed my broken power button. My kindle touch works now! Video was very detailed and easy to follow.
Margaret 6 years ago	Dropped my Kindle for the nth time, and this time it didn't recover. Using this video, I removed the battery and was able to figure out that the battery wasn't the problem. Deduced that it was a problem with the power button, so followed the steps to get down to the power button, wiggled the frame around a little, and now it's working! Thanks! Didn't have to remove the 3G assembly or the battery for my particular fix.
A tom 6 years ago	I dropped my kindle and neither the power or home buttons would work. I went through disassembling my kindle through the various stages, cleaning connections along the way. Nothing seemed to work until I unplugged the display cable from the motherboard (which I forgot to plug back in until I got to the last step of re-assembling). Unfortunately, that step removed all the categories and folders I had created for my massive library, but I suppose that's a small price to pay for a functioning Kindle. Diane 8 years ago	hi having trouble getting to recharge USB cable doesn't seem to be making a connection. Which part is this incorporated in or is there an easy way to fix it.
CMM 9 years ago	Thanks for the video, mine didn't start because the case button didn't reach the board button, so i had to add a little piece of paper between case and board to make it work again.

Mountain Mama 10 years ago	I put in a new battery and ever since then, my Kindle Touch 5 button won't work. I've taken the battery out twice and waited a few minutes, then reinstalled. No luck. Will disassembling fix this problem? The only way I can get out of sleep mode is to plug it I not my computer for a few minutes, eject, then it works until it goes back into sleep mode again and I have to start all over with the computer. If this will work, I'm ready to try it but wanted to check with you guys first.
Jerel 10 years ago	Just so people know, the power button is part of display, not motherboard, and seems to be sealed. After I realized I had ordered the wrong part I sprayed contact cleaner into the button as best I could and reassembled. It's working but not well. Looks like a new Kindle is my only option since display is out of stock. BTW a reassembly video would be very helpful.

Powerbook Medic 10 years ago	@kuechler - just follow along until you can take the battery out, then just go backwards from there. No need for a full disassembly.

Nguyen 10 years ago	I just repaired my Kindle D01200 (suitcase fell on the screen). Used this video for the take apart and just reversed the steps to put it back once I got the replacement, but it works great now. Thanks!
Stephan 10 years ago	Power button stopped working on the unit, opened the device made sure there is no issue with residue on the contact points of the cable connected on the screen assembly to 4 points onto the motherboard. Screwed everything back together and the button worked perfectly again. Perhaps bad assemble in factory?

Antoine 11 years ago	I replaced my screen with this video, buying their 2nd hand one. It works!!! The condition and shipping is superb and the video is very good as well. I recommend you to take the right screwdriver (so not ph0 it) and to be very carefull when removing the frame cause at the top and bottom they are little extensions that attach it to the rest of the case, they break easily.
