Powerbook Medic 10 years ago	@Mattttt - once you get to the part you need to replace, just start putting it back together by going in reverse but with the replacement part this time.

Powerbook Medic 10 years ago	@black99jack - If it is a sad apple logo then it is having trouble loading the OS. you will need to restore it in iTunes or see if iTunes reports any other errors such as a bad hard drive.
black99jack 10 years ago	switched plogged it in got apple then error message put on computer just shows funny charge logo but does nothing is it ok

Powerbook Medic 12 years ago	@markus - i'm not sure what you mean exactly. You are trying to copy songs over to your iPod and it gets that error or are you trying to play the songs on your ipod? I'd try a restore first to rule out a software issue.
markus 12 years ago	my ipod 4th gen keeps getting error problems such as saying that it cant find song files even though i have all the songs on my comp what should i do?

Jen 12 years ago	@rebecca-mine did the same thing, smack the right side of it against your right palm, and it should turn right back on. apparently there's a problem with the hard drive arm inside getting stuck and doing this unsticks it. hope this helps!
Powerbook Medic 12 years ago	@rebecca - that is typically a hard drive issue. It can be corrupt, disconnected inside, or dead. try restoring it in itunes first.

Powerbook Medic 13 years ago	@Dave - the 40GB drives were slightly thicker than the 20GBs, so you'll usually need to replace the back case as well.

Powerbook Medic 13 years ago	@salinko - that is typically a problem finding the operating system. your hard drive could be corrupt or dead or even a logic board problem. I'd try to sync it up to your computer first and do a restore. If it won't get that far, you can try putting it into disk mode and see if your computer can see it. After that, it probably needs a new hard drive.

Powerbook Medic 14 years ago	@monkey boy - no, the ipod hard drives are 1.8 inch compared to laptop 2.5 inch and they have a different connection.
